UNIMED Postgraduate Admission Requirements 2024/2025

All candidates must meet both the general admission requirements and the specific requirements for their chosen program. The general requirements for UNIMED Postgraduate programs are as follows:-

All interested candidates must complete the official application form on the UNIMED portal and upload all necessary documents. These include:-

• Certificates of degrees and/or diplomas
• Academic transcripts
• Three reference letters

• A 500-word statement of intent, outlining the proposed research area
• To be eligible for admission, applicants must have O’ Level Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics, along with three other relevant subjects. Nigerian applicants are also required to submit proof of their NYSC status, which could be a discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate.
• Additionally, each applicant must ensure that their former institution(s) send official academic transcripts directly to the Dean, of Postgraduate School at UNIMED. Only candidates whose transcripts have been received will be considered for admission.

Program Specific Requirements

Master of Science (M.Sc.) Admission Requirements

• To qualify for the M.Sc. program at UNIMED, candidates must have a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division in a relevant discipline. This degree should be from UNIMED or any other university recognized by the UNIMED Senate.
• Applicants with a Third Class Bachelor’s degree or an HND (Upper Credit) may also be considered, but they must have completed a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale in a related field.
• For candidates who did not graduate from UNIMED, there may be additional departmental screening through an interview, examination, or both, depending on the faculty’s requirements.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Admission Requirements

Applicants for the PhD program must meet one of the following criteria:-

• Possess a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree with a research thesis in any of the approved areas of specialization.
• Hold a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in disciplines such as Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, with a minimum weighted average score of 60%.
• As with the M.Sc. program, non-UNIMED graduates may be required to meet additional departmental screening requirements through an interview, examination, or both before final admission is granted.

How To Apply UNIMED Postgraduate Admission Form 2024/2025

Interested and eligible candidates should visit the UNIMED official website at www.unimed.edu.ng and follow these steps:-

1. Click on “Admission”
2. Select “Postgraduate School”
3. You will be redirected to https://www.spgs.unimed.edu.ng/
4. Click on “Apply Here”to proceed with payment using a VISA or MasterCard (Please note that VERVE cards are not accepted)
5. After making the payment, print your Payment Receipt
6. Return to the SPGS portal and click on “Application Login”
7. Use your Payment Transaction ID and Application Number to complete the form.
