UNILAG Admission Requirements

If you are interested in applying to study at the University of Lagos at the undergraduate level, you need to meet the admission requirements. This depends on the mode of entry you choose: DE or UTME. UTME candidates are those who apply using their JAMB results while Direct Entry candidates are those who want to apply for admission using previous qualifications. See below for details of the requirements:-

UTME Requirements

  • Candidates must ensure that UNILAG was selected as their first or most preferred choice during the JAMB registration process. Those who did not can still apply for the UNILAG Post-UTME Form by applying for a change of institution through JAMB.
  • All candidates must score a minimum of 200 in the recent JAMB exams to be eligible for admission.
  • Candidates must have O’level certificates with at least credits in five relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics. These must not be obtained in more than two sittings.
  • Candidates are required to participate in the UNILAG Post-UTME screening as part of the admission process.
  • Candidates must be at least 16 years old at the time of admission.

Direct Entry Candidates

  • Just like UTME candidates, direct entry applicants must have five (5) credits in their SSCE or GCE, including English Language, Mathematics, and three other relevant subjects, in no more than two sittings.
  • Applicants with A’Level or IJMB passes in two subjects that are closely related to their intended course of study can apply for admission.
  • Candidates who have first-class or second-class Upper degrees in a related discipline are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Those with a Merit Pass in the NCE, National Diploma (ND), or other advanced-level certifications can apply.
  • Direct Entry candidates must apply through both the JAMB and UNILAG portals.

If you meet these requirements as an undergraduate applicant, you can proceed to apply for admission when the UNILAG post-UTME Form is out.

How To Apply For UNILAG Admission

Once the UNILAG admission form is out, proceed to apply for admission by following the steps below:-

  • Visit the University of Lagos (UNILAG) application portal: https://admissions.unilag.edu.ng/
  • Click on the “Post-UTME Application” tab to start your application process.
  • Select the “Start Fresh Application” option, then choose Undergraduate from the available choices.
  • Log in using your JAMB UTME Registration number as your username, and your surname as your password.
  • After logging in, generate and print your payment advice, which will guide you through the payment process.
  • Make your payment at any commercial bank, or choose to pay online through the portal.
  • Once payment is complete, return to the UNILAG portal to upload a clear passport photograph.
  • Click on “Continue Application” to fill out the admission screening form with your details.
  • Before submitting, click on “Preview” to review all the information provided for accuracy.
  • After verification, click “Submit” to complete your application.
  • Upon submission, you can print your Post-UTME Examination Pass, which serves as your entry ticket for the screening.
