Abia State University Admission Requirements for UTME and Direct Entry 2025/2026

The requirements below have been segmented into UTME & Direct Entry. All candidates who want to study at ABSU using JAMB must meet the UTME requirements while those who want to study using previous qualifications are to meet the direct entry requirements. The requirements are as follows:-

UTME Admission Requirements

  1. Candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.
  2. Candidates must score at least 140 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be considered for admission.
  3. Candidates must have selected Abia State University as their first choice during JAMB registration. Those who initially chose another institution can apply for a change of institution.
  4. Candidates must ensure that their UTME subject combination aligns with their chosen course of study, as specified by JAMB.
  5. All candidates must participate in the ABSU Post-UTME screening exercise and obtain a satisfactory score.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements

  1. A-Level Certificates: Candidates must possess at least two (2) A-Level passes in relevant subjects.
  2. ND/NCE/HND: Candidates with a National Diploma (ND), National Certificate of Education (NCE), or Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized institution must have a minimum of Lower Credit in a relevant field.
  3. JUPEB/IJMB: Candidates with JUPEB or IJMB results must have a good grade in at least two (2) subjects relevant to their intended course.
  4. Candidates must have five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
  5. Applicants must apply for Direct Entry admission through JAMB and also obtain the ABSU Direct Entry form when available.
