Abia State University Admission Requirements 2025/2026

All candidates must meet the admission requirements listed below if they wish to apply for admission into Abia State University (ABSU). Failure to meet any of the criteria may result in disqualification.

UTME Admission (100 Level)

To be eligible for admission into Abia State University (ABSU) through the UTME route, you must meet the following criteria:-

  1. You must select ABSU as your first or second choice when registering for JAMB. If you didn’t do that initially, make sure you request a Change of Institution through your JAMB profile before the deadline.
  2. The general minimum cut-off mark is 140. However, more competitive programs such as Medicine, Law, Nursing, and Pharmacy typically require 200 or above. Other courses might accept between 140–180, depending on the department.
  3. You must possess five credit passes in subjects relevant to your course of study, including English Language and Mathematics. These credits can come from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, and must be obtained in not more than two sittings.
  4. After meeting the JAMB and O’Level requirements, candidates must register for the Post-UTME screening on the ABSU portal. The form typically costs ₦2,000 and must be completed online.
  5. You will need to upload your JAMB result slip and O’Level results to both the ABSU admissions portal and JAMB CAPS as part of the screening process.
  6. All applicants must be at least 16 years old by the time of admission. Admission is only granted if both academic and screening requirements are fully met.

Direct Entry (200 Level)

For candidates applying to start from 200 level through Direct Entry (DE), these are the requirements:

  1. Obtain the JAMB Direct Entry form and ensure you choose ABSU as one of your preferred institutions. If it’s not already listed, update it via the JAMB change of institution process.
  2. Just like UTME candidates, DE applicants must also present five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

Candidates must possess one of the following:-

  • OND or HND with at least Upper Credit
  • NCE with at least a Credit grade
  • Two A-Level, IJMB, or JUPEB passes in subjects relevant to the course they want to study.

We hope you have found the course you are interested in and that you meet the requirements for it. If you have confirmed your preferred course, the next step is to apply for the ABSU Post-UTME screening form and begin your admission process as soon as possible.
