O’Level Requirements

  • All applicants for postgraduate studies must have passed the General Certificate of Education (GCE), Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (NECO), or West African Examination Council (WAEC) exam with at least five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.

Master’s Degree Programs

The following requirements must be fulfilled by applicants to Master’s programs like M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc., M.Eng., M.M.Sc., and comparable programs:

  • Applicants must also possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant discipline with at least a Second Class Lower Division.

Ph.D. Programs

  • Master’s Degree: A candidate must have earned a Letter Grade B average performance or a minimum weighted average of 60% (4 points) in the appropriate discipline from an accredited university.

Master’s Degree from another University:

  • Applicants who earned their master’s degree at another university must have completed their master’s program with a minimum weighted average of 60% or a Letter Grade B. Their Master’s program’s necessary courses must be taken and passed with a minimum of 60% or Letter Grade B if they are different from those needed by UNIABUJA.

Research Proposal for Ph.D.

  • A research proposal (no more than 500 words) outlining the planned study must be submitted by candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. programs.

Postgraduate Diploma Programs

  • For Postgraduate Diploma programs, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Possess a University Degree with a minimum of Third Class or a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit.

For specific programs like the Master of Public Health (MPH), a relevant health-related degree (such as MBBS, BDS) is required for the Community Medicine specialization, while a health-related degree is also required for the Sexual and Reproductive Health specialization.
