ESUT Postgraduate Admission Requirements
To gain admission into the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) postgraduate programs, candidates must meet specific academic requirements. These requirements depend on the level of study; Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s Degree (M.Sc.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)as outlined below:
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Admission Requirements
- Candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes at O’ Level, including English Language, Mathematics, and two relevant science subjects.
- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least a pass in a relevant science discipline is required.
- Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant fields from an accredited institution must have a minimum of Upper Credit to be considered for admission.
Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) Admission Requirements
The Master’s programs at ESUT are divided into academic and professional categories namely Academic Master’s Programs which qualify candidates for higher degrees and Professional Master’s Programs which are terminal and do not lead to further academic progression.
Candidates applying for an academic Master’s program must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an approved university with at least a Second Class Lower Division (CGPA of 3.0/5.0).
- A Third Class Bachelor’s degree or HND with a PGD (CGPA of 3.0/5.0) from a recognized university may also be considered.
For Professional Master’s programs, candidates must meet one of the following:
- A minimum of Second Class Lower Division in a relevant field.
- A Third Class Bachelor’s degree or HND, along with a PGD at credit level (CGPA of 3.0/5.0 or 50% on weighted percentage average).
- Candidates must possess strong intellectual capacity, problem-solving skills, and decision-making abilities.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Admission Requirements
- Candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes at O’ Level, including English Language, Mathematics, and two other relevant subjects.
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with at least a Second Class Lower Division (CGPA of 3.0/5.0).
- Candidates must also possess an academic Master’s degree in a relevant field with a CGPA of at least 4.0/5.0, and their thesis must have been graded at least 60% (B grade).
- Applicants should demonstrate strong intellectual capacity, maturity, and problem-solving abilities.
