UNIPORT Postgraduate Admission Requirements 2024/2025

These are the requirements all applicants are expected to meet to qualify for PG admission at UNIPORT.

Master’s Programs

  • A first degree in a related field from a recognized institution with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
  • Submission of academic transcripts from previous institutions attended.
  • Proof of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program or exemption letter.
  • A minimum of five (5) credits in relevant O’Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • For certain courses, relevant professional qualifications may be required.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

  • A third-class degree or HND (minimum lower credit) in a related field.
  • At least five (5) credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programs

  • A relevant master’s degree with a minimum of a 60% grade or equivalent.
  • Submission of a well-written research proposal detailing the intended area of study.
  •  Academic transcripts from previous institutions.
  • Minimum of five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Depending on the field, previous professional or research experience may be necessary.

UNIPORT Postgraduate Program Duration

The duration of postgraduate programs at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) varies based on the type of program and how you choose to study:-

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

  • Full-Time:12 to 24 months.

Master’s Degree

  • Full-Time: Usually lasts between 12 to 24 months.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.):

  • Full-Time: Typically lasts between 24 to 60 months.
  • Part-Time: Takes about 36 to 84 months.

Professional Master’s Programs
