National Open University Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Programs

To qualify for undergraduate admission at NOUN, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. O’ Level Requirements: Candidates must possess at least five O’ Level credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics (if required by the chosen course) in not more than two sittings.
  2. UTME Requirement: Applicants must present a valid Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score. While NOUN does not conduct separate entrance examinations, candidates are advised to check if their desired courses have specific UTME subject requirements.
  3. Direct Entry: Candidates wishing to enroll through direct entry must possess the appropriate qualifications, such as Advanced Level (A-Level) or National Diploma (ND) in a related field. Relevant professional qualifications may also be considered.

Postgraduate Programs

The admission requirements for NOUN’s postgraduate programs are as follows:

  1. Postgraduate Diploma: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from NOUN or any recognized institution in a related field with a minimum pass.
  2. Master’s Degree: To be considered for a master’s program, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class lower division. Relevant work experience is often an added advantage.
