What Are Cut-Off Marks?

Cut-off marks are the minimum scores candidates need to gain admission into a school. In Nigeria, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) sets a general cut-off mark every year, which serves as the baseline. However, individual schools are allowed to set their cut-off marks as long as they do not go below JAMB’s minimum score.

This means that while JAMB provides a starting point, universities, polytechnics, and colleges determine the actual score they will accept for admission. Some competitive schools may set higher cut-off marks, while others may keep theirs closer to JAMB’s minimum.

Like other institutions, Ajayi Crowther University also sets its out-off mark for each academic session. If you are considering applying, it is important to check the university’s specific requirements to ensure you meet the score needed for your chosen course.
