Steps to Follow for NECO Registration 2025/2026

The registration process for the 2025/2026 NECO SSCE Internal examination will be done both online and offline. Below are the steps you should follow:-

Access the School’s Online Portal

To begin the registration process, principals should log into the school’s NECO online portal using their existing login credentials. For schools that are new or have lost their login details, the portal can be reclaimed by following the instructions for a password reset.

  • Schools are required to use official school emails and phone numbers for portal access. Cybercafé emails and personal email addresses are not acceptable.
  • Once logged in, schools can proceed to fill out the necessary registration forms and verify all candidate details.

Offline Registration Process

To complete offline registration, schools must follow these steps:-

  • Download the 2025 SSCE Internal offline registration application from the NECO website.
  • Complete all required bio-data information for each candidate, ensuring that details such as names, date of birth, gender, and subject choices are accurately filled in.
  • Upload passport photographs of each candidate in school uniforms as required.
  • Once offline registration is complete, the data should be validated before uploading online. Principals must ensure the accuracy of every candidate’s information during the validation process.

Special Needs Candidates

For candidates with special needs (e.g., low vision, hearing impairment, autism, etc.), the registration process remains the same, but schools must indicate the specific special need during the registration process.

Biometric Data Capture

Every candidate must undergo biometric data capturing as part of the registration. This includes taking fingerprints using the Futronic FS80H Fingerprint Scanner. This step ensures the uniqueness and security of each candidate’s record.

  • Schools must ensure that candidates check their details thoroughly before biometric data is captured.

Guidelines to Ensure a Successful Registration

To ensure the registration process runs smoothly, here are a few important guidelines:-

  • Validate candidate information carefully during offline registration to avoid corrections after submission. Any changes to details after uploading incur a penalty of N10,000 per candidate.
  • Ensure biometric data capturing is done accurately. No duplication of biometric data will be accepted.
  • Register a minimum of 20 candidates per school to avoid the unviable centre fee.
  • Submit all required documents, including signed photocards, entry schedules, and validation lists for centre activation.
  • Ensure that all payments are made early to avoid late registration fees and disruptions.
