There are two main ways to gain admission into the American University of Nigeria, and each has its own set of requirements. So, if you want to apply, you need to make sure you meet the requirements listed below. This will help you have a smooth application process and increase your chances of being admitted.

Admission Requirements for UTME Candidates

  • All applicants must choose the American University of Nigeria as their first choice. Those who did not can apply for a JAMB change of institution before they can apply for admission.
  • Candidates must have their SSCE results or any combination of WAEC, NECO, GCE, IGCSE, and NABTEB reports.
  • Candidates must provide their high school transcripts covering Senior Secondary 1 to 3 (SS1-3).
  • Candidates must have a JAMB result with a minimum score of 160.
  • Candidates must submit a letter of recommendation from their high school principal.
  • Candidates must provide a photocopy of their national identity card, passport, or driver’s license.
  • Candidates must write and submit a personal essay explaining why they chose the American University of Nigeria and outlining their future ambitions.

Admission Requirements for Direct Entry/Transfer Candidates

  • Candidates must provide their diploma certificates, such as NCE, OND, or HND, or A-Level results.
  • Those transferring from other universities must submit copies of their secondary school and university transcripts, including course descriptions for undergraduate studies.
  • Candidates must have SSCE results or any combination of WAEC, NECO, GCE, IGCSE, and NABTEB reports.
  • Candidates must have direct entry JAMB or IJMB results with a minimum score of 160.
  • Candidates must submit a letter of recommendation from a dean or relevant university administrator.
  • Candidates must provide a photocopy of their national identity card, passport, or driver’s license.
  • Candidates must write and submit a personal essay explaining why they chose the American University of Nigeria and outlining their future ambitions.
