Akwa Ibom State University Postgraduate Admission Requirements 2024/2025

All aspiring PG students who want to study any of the courses mentioned above must ensure that they meet the general and course-specific requirements for admission to be eligible. The requirements are as follows.

General Requirements

• All aspiring students must have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution, with at least a second-class lower division.
• Candidates must present an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
• At least five (5) credit passes in O’Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

Specific Requirements for Different Postgraduate Programs

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• A first degree in a related field from a recognized institution or Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit.

Master of Science (M.Sc)

• A Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second-Class Lower division in the relevant field.
• Candidates with Third-Class degrees and a relevant postgraduate diploma may also be considered.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

• A Master’s degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 in the relevant field.
• Evidence of research experience and a well-defined research proposal are required.
• A research proposal must be submitted during the application process.
