For instance, candidates who apply for admission using the UTME mode (JAMB Candidates) must ensure they meet the JAMB cut-off marks and others to be eligible for admission. Direct Entry candidates on the other hand are expected to have a previous qualification from an approved institution among others.

UNICAL Cut-Off Mark for Admission

This is the minimum score you are to achieve in a recent JAMB Examination to be eligible to purchase the admission form.
The cut-off mark for admission into the University of Calabar is 140 and above. UNICAL Admission Requirements For UTME And Direct Entry Candidates
As we discussed earlier, the requirements for admission vary depending on the mode of admission you choose. Below are the requirements you need to meet to be eligible for admission to study any of the courses offered by UNICAL.
For UTME Candidates
- You need a minimum score of 140 in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam to be considered for most courses. Some programs may require higher scores, so check the specific requirements for your course.
- Make sure UNICAL is selected as your first choice during JAMB registration. This gives you a better chance of being considered.
- After writing your JAMB, you must participate in the UNICAL Post-UTME screening and score well to qualify for admission.
- You need at least five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in your WAEC, NECO, or equivalent. The results should not be older than two sittings.
- You must be at least 16 years old at the time of admission.
For Direct Entry Candidates
- A’ Level Results: If you are applying with advanced-level qualifications, you need two passes in subjects related to your course of study.
- Candidates with a National Diploma (ND), National Certificate of Education (NCE), or equivalent must have at least a Merit Pass in relevant programs from a recognized institution.
- If you already have a First Degree with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division, you may also be considered for admission into certain programs.
- Purchase the Direct Entry form through JAMB and also complete the application on the UNICAL portal.
